Las Vegas Haiku in Four Verses

                             Ick and smoky haze!
                             Constant noise and no daylight!
                             People look for what?

                             Wander through slots lost
                             Stare in space oblivious..
                             Just one more dollar..

                             Such life sucking place!
                             Dizzying and confusion!
                             Wanted my escape!

                             Now i am away!
Home with husband and my cats!
                             Big sigh of relief!

Well, i have now experienced Las Vegas!  I wanted to go for a short holiday and was really looking forward to it, but i pretty much detested it.  I know it's a popular destination, and most people love it there.  Leave it to me to strongly dislike something.. someplace that's popular.  The crowds.  The smoke.  The bad, unhealthy food.  People go there in droves.  The tackiness.  The list of stuff i didn't like.  Okay, enough sour grapes, and i don't mean to demean those who like it.. it just wasn't for me.  Not passing judgment though.  Just because i don't get it.. doesn't make it bad.  To each our own, you know?  :)  But i'm glad, (like super duper glad) to be home!

I promise my next post will be more positive.  I just wanted to get a few things off my chest here, then put the awfulness behind me.

You all have a great rest of the evening, and a very Happy New Year to you!  I send peace and all my love to all!

I saw none of this while i was down there.  No natural beauty.  I missed it.  I'll be back here soon!  Peace.

                            Mary

  1. I felt much the same about Miami. Couldn't wait to visit, but once I got there, couldn't wait to come home. Happy New Year to you and yours.

  2. I'm with you, Mary. My greatest gift this year was NOT having to go to Vegas with Rick for the annual trade show. Actually, I put my foot down last year -- 10 Decembers in Vegas are not my cuppa tea, although I have to say it makes for some great photo ops. But between working and then all the big and weird of that place -- give me my little ol' town any day! Glad you are home and settling back in! It IS an assault to the senses!

  3. We went to Las Vegas, too, for a big gathering of friends. The friends made it a really great occasion, but anytime we were wandering around the city it was just noisy and dismal. And yes . . . all the slot machines; a sense of unreality, since the main light is artificial (hardly any dedicated gamblers ever see daylight.) Still, we were glad we went for the gathering.

  5. Happy New Year-love the pink in these blooms. We've blooms all over the place over here, rather lovely but I do like the nip of Winter for a few days :-).

  6. I suspect I wouldn't like Las Vegas either. Happy New Year, Mary and may all your dreams come true in 2016!

  7. Mary, I was there years ago and will never return! Just nothing there that appeals to me either! Love those blossoms! Here's to a Peaceful & Joyful New Year!

  8. Oh sorry you didn't like Vegas! I don't gamble but it is an exciting place, not a place you could call home perhaps, just a different experience.

  9. I've never been to Vegas, though almost all my friends say it is not so beautiful as it seems. Th central part is amazing, of course. But the last part where all the people live seems to be crazy town.
