Our Otis
"As anyone who has ever been around a cat for any length of time well knows, cats have enormous patience with the limitations of humankind." --- Cleveland Amory, The Cat Who Came for Christmas
This was so true of our Otis Kitty. Husband and i said goodbye to him on Thursday. It was time, and we did the right thing for him. He suffered from kidney failure, and earlier in the week, had lost interest in eating at all. We loved him heart and soul, and he loved us and gave us so much joy over the seventeen years he was part of our family. It's difficult to put such love and devotion into words. It's a profoundly deep feeling. Now he is resting, relaxing, hunting and healthy in a place of happiness and love. I believe that with all my heart! Goodbye, my sweetheart. Rest well, and we send you much love...
Our wonderful, soulful boy. We'll always love you sweet kitty.
I wish you all peace and a lovely Sunday.
Mary

Otis, may you play and have fun forever as one of the kittens of Bast. Condolences to your humans.

ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read this, Mary. My Cleo will be 15 this year and has been with me through thick and thin. She kept me going when times were really tough. I know exactly how you are feeling and am sending you love. x

I'm so sorry about Otis :( The furry members of our family leave paw prints on our hearts.
ReplyDeleteOh, Mary, I'm so, so sorry you had to say goodbye to your dear Otis. We watched the Marmelade Gypsy through his kidney disease, too -- it was sad to see him slip day by day near the end. They're such brave and valiant friends, aren't they? Nary a complaint. I know your hearts are broken right now. I also know that Otis was a lucky cat to have people who loved him so much.
ReplyDeleteOur condolences. People don't realize how loving cats really are. My husband and I had a Siamese for 19 years. He almost made it to twenty, and how we loved him -- and missed him when he was gone!
ReplyDeleteWe also had to go through the same thing with our beloved dog, Cezar, last August. I still sometimes wake at night and think I hear him walking across the room, his toenails clicking against the wooden floor.
But you did the right thing. If he wasn't eating, then he would have suffered greatly. Hope he is happily chasing birds and mice -- and hope they are happily getting away from him, too. :-)
So sorry.
ReplyDeletecoeur sérré, pensées pour Otis et pour vous, bon courage Mary.

So very sorry Mary -- big hugs.
ReplyDeleteOh Mary, I am so sorry. I know how hard it is, still missing my sweet Ginny girl so much. The little darlings are so much a part of our day and they are in our hears forever. Your work is done here Otis, time to rest...
ReplyDeleteMary, I feel that pain with you. I lost my Robin to that horrible disease. When it comes there is nothing really that we can do to stop its progress. The love you gave him kept him happy and safe and warm. He returned that love to you every bit and morsel.
ReplyDeleteGod speed precious little boy. Love to you and the knowledge that by and by, you will see your mom and dad again. Until then, your Star shines brilliantly for your family to see. xxoox
